One of my favorite bloggers, Maggie Mason, recently wrote up a list of 100 things to do before she dies. I remember making this list in college, but it had ridiculous things on it like "Scuba Dive", "Bungee Jump", and "Parachute out of an airplane". These are things I actually don't want to do. Maggie's list had me thinking, so I started writing down some To Dos of my own.
What I like about making this list at the age of 31, is that it's more realistic. There are small and big things on there. Some just take a little effort and some will take a lot of effort.
Here are the first 25 on my list, feel free to add some of yours in comments:
100. Get a passport
99. Drink wine in Chile
98. Grow a vegetable garden
97. Plant flowers
96. Buy something off eBay
95. Sell something on eBay
94. Have a garage sale
93. Go to the Olympics
92. Learn basic Mandarin
91. Learn basic Spanish
90. Read The Executioner’s Song
89. Write a novel
88. Own a pair of nice sandals (not flip-flops)
87. Take a cooking class
86. Get down to my “target weight range” and stay there
85. Wear a bikini
84. Go to the opera
83. Create my own recipe
82. Learn how to French braid
81. Learn how best to wear make-up
80. Become a Master Gardener
79. Teach my husband to downhill ski
78. Own a camper (and use it!)
77. Stay the night in Glacier National Park
76. Visit Waterton Int’l Peace Park
- hike to Machu Picchu
- Fish in Alaska
- Be my daughter's friend, not just her mom
- Visit New England in the fall
- Design a garden
- Finish learning to play the guitar
