Well, we lived.
We got back from Colorado late Thursday night and I feel like I have been recovering ever since. Why am I recovering? Oh, a little thing called the STOMACH FLU.
Sheesh.
Elliot was a champion traveler. She slept on the plane to and from Denver. I couldn't get her to wake up to nurse as we landed back in Portland. We rented a car seat and, guess what? Our AAA paid for it. It would've cost us $60. Rock! That pretty much justified the AAA right there. The car seat was clean and simple to install (we just buckled it in). We drove a Prius and did not fill up on gas one time, though the trips to and from the airport were a little cramped with our luggage and whatnot.
So... about that STOMACH FLU:
On Sunday, we had a lovely visit with my brother in Boulder and, on Monday, we had a wonderful time with our friends in Colorado. We even went on a short walk around a lake.
But on Tuesday morning, Elliot started vomiting. She's had an intestinal bug before but it only caused diarrhea and, let me tell you, a vomiting baby is a very upsetting thing. She was a champ, though. Between puking, she was pretty chipper. She did take three- two-hour naps that day. I took them with her because she refused to sleep in her Pack 'n Play and wanted mommy right by her side. Couldn't blame her, really.
She had diarrhea and vomited a couple of times on Wednesday, but was getting better as the day went on. At about 4 pm, though, I began vomiting. I think I actually pulled a muscle in my neck (it's still sore!) from all the vomiting. TMI? Too bad!
I was still pretty nauseous on Thursday, but Elliot was feeling much better. She played with our friends' daughter and had a grand time until we had to get in the car and go.
So... I feel like I had a vacation day on Monday. I missed out on a lot: Elliot playing with our friends' daughter, Mario Kart, and child-free conversations.
Oh, well. I guess we'll never forget this trip!

oh, dear, sorry to hear it! It's funny how the kids are not really that bothered by the puking--Lorelei always acts so cheerful when she has the flu. Then it hits me and Eric and we are far less chipper.
