Elliot in Coat

As I've mentioned before, I married into a family that is super-talented at crafts. My mother-in-law just opened a store on Etsy called Nami Sue.

She's a wicked good seamstress and quilter (the woman also knows how to handle herself around a potter's wheel).

Elliot is serving as her model for this coat, which we all love very much. I especially like how it's long in the back so it covers her bum when she decides to sit on something cold/wet/dirty. The fabric is corduroy with little skunks, raccoons, and bunnies. If Nami has any material left over, I'm going to request a skirt or overalls in that fabric.

And, looky here! It's my niece, Allee, modeling a toddler scarf.

I'm thinking about ordering three of these quilted stockings from Nami (I may have to use a fake name). These are the best stockings I've seen on Etsy-- seriously, I was looking recently and they're all quite bad. Homemade stockings are my absolute favorite but I haven't the skills to make one.

Finally, if you're looking for a gift for the person who has everything, I'm betting they don't have this. It's a quilted table runner. Gorgeous!

Very cute. How on earth does she make a profit though? Such a low price. I've sewn for like 20 years and even if you are fast, the labor takes a bit.

Just a warning - I saw this today here:
http://twoontwooff.blogspot.com/2008/12/consumer-protection-safety-act.html

everyone who makes anything for children is going to have to have items tested for lead, started February. No one is exempt and you can't rely on the suppliers of the materials to give you the info. There is a huge discussion on the Etsy forums about this - could put many people out of business.

What an adorable little jacket and hat! I sure wish I had the talent to sew!
