How My Toddler Eats Fruit (In the Winter)

Plum

I'm one of those annoying people who likes to buy fruit that is in-season and not pick up some blueberries in February that have been shipped from Chile.

Well, I was that kind of mom. Until Elliot kept getting constipated because there's virtually zero fruit in season right now in the Pacific Northwest. Let's just say I caved: there's kiwi, raspberries and blueberries in my house.

But we also discovered these handy little fellas while picking up diapers at Babies 'R Us today. They're pureed fruit called Plum Organics and I like them for several reasons (in order of importance):

1. No added anything (sugar, preservatives, etc.)

2. Organic

3. No BPA in the packaging

4. The packaging! So convenient! Awesome for on-the-go, plus exciting for toddlers to squeeze!

Today, Elliot sucked down three of these little guys (peach/apple/banana) while cruising the aisles of Babies 'R Us. I haven't been able to get her to eat fruit that easily since the summer when we had a bounty.

My only complaint is that the toddler "Mish Mash" of fruits all has strawberries... to which Elliot has an allergy. So she's eating the mashed fruit that is considered Stage 1 baby food. Whatever works.

Trader Joe's has organic applesauce and carrot-applesauce in similar packaging, but it's often out of stock locally.

Wooohoo you are back! I LOVE these little pouches and use them for my yougest but I know my oldest would like them too. My oldest really likes the crushers from Trader Joes and I like the one that has carrots and apples together.

I love the carrots/apples one! Elliot will never, ever eat carrots, but she unknowingly does it when she eats a Trader Joe's crusher.
